Supporting Agricultural Efforts with National Farmworker Jobs Program
The National Farmworker Jobs Program is a nationally-directed program of services for migrant and seasonal farmworkers.
The U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) Employment and Training Administration (ETA) has awarded High Impact Partners (HIP) a contract to support ETA’s technical assistance efforts for the National Farmworker Jobs Program (NFJP) and Monitor Advocate System (MAS). The overarching goals of the contract include supporting grantees, delivering customized technical assistance, providing trainings and webinars, as well as training and technical assistance efforts for the MAS.
The NFJP is a nationally-directed program of services for migrant and seasonal farmworkers (MSFW). The program is authorized under Section 167 of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act to counter the impact of chronic unemployment and underemployment experienced by MSFWs who primarily depend on jobs in agricultural labor. The NFJP provides funding to community-based organizations and public agencies that assist MSFWs and their families attain greater economic stability. The program helps farmworkers acquire new job skills in occupations that offer higher wages and a more stable employment outlook. The MAS is a federal/state monitoring system that ensures MSFWs have equitable access to career services, skill development, and workforce protections offered by American Job Centers.
