Workforce Opportunities for Military Veterans

Workforce development and strategic partnering with organizations keep High Impact Partners a valuable staffing resource to our clients. This November, HIP remains loyal to honoring our military veterans and service members.

It is a well-known recruiting strategy to hire veterans due to their cross-training, discipline, dedication to our country, and skills. An estimated 200,000-plus service members transition out of the military each year. This Veterans Day (November 11) is an excellent time to review and update your veteran recruitment plan and open a pipeline to this well-equipped workforce.

To get the best results in veteran recruitment, we suggest strengthening workforce goals by creating a registered apprenticeship program and partnering with Apprenticeship USA. Veterans and service members have opportunities to apply their GI Bill benefits, which can provide a monthly housing allowance, and an education stipend for books and supplies in addition to registered apprenticeship wages. As a go-to resource for veterans' workforce development, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS) is on a mission to prepare America's veterans, service members, and military spouses for meaningful careers by providing employment resources/expertise, protecting their employment rights, and promoting employment opportunities.

Veterans also have multiple opportunities to impact communities and offer mentorship to youth through organizations like Travis Manor Foundation. Organizations such as War Horse help offer additional mental support to miliary veterans and service members, as well as transition programs such as those offered by Career One Stop and the United Service Organization (USO), to name a few.
